The Medieval Wall of Llanes, built between the 13th and 14th centuries to protect the coastal town from maritime attacks and territorial conflicts, is one of the most important historical symbols of this Asturian locality. Constructed with solid stone masonry, the fortification once surrounded the original urban core and included several gates and defensive towers that guarded both the town and the nearby harbor. Today, large sections of this ancient defensive belt remain, seamlessly integrated into the urban landscape of Llanes. Walking along its walls allows visitors to imagine the life of a medieval town that thrived thanks to maritime trade and fishing. More than a simple military structure, the wall represents the origin and historical identity of the city.
